GELATERIA DELUCA OPENS IN BRIGHTON

Back in the spring of last year, Felice DeLuca realised his dream of opening a true Italian gelateria in his home town of Brighton. After much deliberation, and on a recommendation from his friends and family who run a gelateria in Torino, he spoke to Steve Henshall of Alfred & Co about Technogel equipment.

Felice’s installation was unique – his gelateria is in a building which used to be a bank and the only location for the ice cream machines was in the safe located in the cellar.

The machines had to be manhandled down the stairs with great care and the knowledge that all Technogel machines are tested with ice cream before leaving the factory was very much a plus point. The thought of bringing a dead machine upstairs was too much to contemplate!

One of Felice’s concerns was water usage, and even though Technogel machines are available air cooled, that wasn’t an option due to the underground location. A Weker Water Economiser was chosen to recycle the cooling water and blow the warm air up and out of the safe.

“Everything works well”, commented Felice. “The new Technogel Mante batch freezer is very easy to to use and produces the superb Italian gelato I demand for my customers. Steve has  visited us a couple of times and kept in touch on the phone to answer all our questions throughout the start-up process”.

Felice would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone visiting Brighton to call into his parlour ‘Gelateria DeLuca’ just a minute away from the big wheel on St James’ Street or follow them on Facebook (search Facebook for Gelateria De Luca).

Felice and his colleagues are trustees of ADCAF, a charity supporting abandoned and homeless children in India (check out their website at www.adcaf.org).
