Cherry View Milk produces free-range milk from a small herd of happy, free-range cows who graze on lush pastures of grass and clover at Cherry Burton, near Beverley.
Becky Waring launched Cherry View Milk from Field House Farm with the innovative idea of allowing customers to purchase milk straight from their specialist milk vending machine at ‘The Milk Shed’ based on the farm.
As any small volume producer will testify, Becky has come across a variety of challenges in processing her milk. One particular challenge arose when Becky began experiencing problems with her existing batch pasteuriser. Alfred & Co were able to service the machine, prolonging its lifespan, and keeping Cherry View Milk in production.
However, as is often the case with older machines, the lifespan of the batch pasteuriser could only be prolonged for so long. With a suspected crack in the tank, the agitator motor was frequently becoming choked with milk. It was clear to Becky that she needed to look at a longer term solution.
Steve Henshall, Sales Manager at Alfred & Co, was able to utilise his many years of experience in the industry to recommend a solution. After ongoing discussions, it was agreed that a new Technogel Mixpasto 120TS batch pasteuriser would be the ideal machine for Becky’s production requirements.
Cherry View Milk placed the order with Alfred & Co for the new machine, but this didn’t immediately solve the issue they were having with their existing pasteuriser so, once again, Steve stepped in with a solution. On our site in Retford, Nottinghamshire, Alfred & Co hold a number of demo machines in stock. We’re able to loan these machines out to customers thus avoiding downtime and disruption to production.
Becky was pleased to be able to take up the offer of a loan machine and was able to utilise our demo machine, free of charge until her new machine arrived. Becky said: “Steve is so knowledgeable about the equipment and is always happy to go above and beyond to help me out. It’s important, as a small producer, to be treated with the same degree of importance as one of the larger producers. The loan machine has saved us time, resources and money that would’ve been lost due to the problems with our existing machine.
