When Lucie Morran identified a gap in the market for quality artisan ice cream in Suffolk, her first thought was to produce her own indulgent and unique ice cream under the brand of Waveney Valley Ices.
Flavours and recipes were researched and with the dream quickly turning to reality, Lucie needed high quality, reliable equipment to make her ice cream.
A visit to an established manufacturer in North Yorkshire led her, by recommendation, to Steve Henshall, Capital Sales Manager at Alfred & Co, and Lucie visited the Retford-based company where she was suitably impressed.
“The site was much bigger than I expected and I could see they did so much more than just artisan equipment. It was obvious that Alfreds and Steve shared my passion for ice cream”, remarked Lucie.
A few weeks later, Lucie took delivery of a Technogel Mixtronic 110 batch pasteuriser, Technogel Mante 30-100 batch freezer and a small self-contained ageing vat.
There was the usual rush to get everything finished in time and so, on a cold January day, Steve visited to commission the machines and train Lucie on their use and maintenance.
“Steve was very helpful. Over the two days he showed us all the intricacies of the machines and how to get the best out of them. Everything was very simple and straightforward and worked straight out of the box”, Lucie commented.
Steve added, “We are always more than happy to show our customers how to get the best out their purchases – when we commission the equipment, we always make sure they can produce excellent ice cream! We tailored a package to suit Lucie in terms of investment and repayment schedule, including delivery and commissioning. I can appreciate it’s a big step for anyone to take!”
